An unusual family pet

BEST ever HIPPOS ROCK!

My dad was the supervisor of a zoo and park for 20 yrs. and when Bubbles and Bulgy were born into captivity and were teething, my dad would rub their gums and talk to them. Nine years after he retired, having not gone back during that time, we visited and when he called their names, they rose up out of the water and walked towards him. As they got closer he told them to open their mouth wide, which one of them did, and after he rubbed in its mouth for awhile and talked to her, he put his head in the wide open mouth of the hippo. To everyone's amazement, the hippo very lovingly just stood there, not posing any danger. (Of course my dad got in big trouble for crossing the fence and staging such an outrageous and dangerous display.)

@Jeanneen Wow, that sounds like an incredible experience and would have been awesome to see that. It must have felt great how the hippos remembered that your dad took care of them. I like watching them walk underwater, it's cute how they close up their nose and ears.
